The daughter of former democratic Senator from Maryland, Joseph Tydings, the Ivy league educated ethereal goddess Alexandra Tydings has blessed big and small screens since 1993. After graduating from Brown University, Alexandra and her curly blonde locks headed to Hollywood, where to our delight she immediately found herself starring in an episode of Showtime’s erotic miniseries Red Shoe Diaries. Alexandra’s character, Cecilia, is a fugitive from the law who runs into a beefy roofer, that helps her in more ways than one. First the two steal a car, only to find out that Cecilia gets off on speed, straddling her newfound accomplice topless while he tries to drive as fast as she wants. After picking up a horny hitchhiking bride, the two finally pull over, the roofer does some of Tyding’s biding, and we see all three of the lovely lady’s B’s. Put on your red shoes and let’s dance the blues, indeed! Alexandra followed that work by landing the role of the Greek goddess Aphrodite on both Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess. As the nearly always lingerie clad, ditzy blonde goddess of love, she yells at Cupid (played by a young Karl Urban) in a nearly sheer white dress, lounges around her giant clam shell in a bikini, and bounces around the screen in a pink bra, all while causing all sorts of romantic chaos. With her hilarious attitude and long, lean but still large in all the right places, Alexandra was one mighty Aphrodite that could make your whiteys super tighty. In much more critically lauded fare, she played an arts editor on The Wire, before taking a decade off from acting. While she did lots of work in Washington DC’s theater scene and created “The Trial of Hannah Porn”, a multimedia art installation about the history of the female body, in 2018 she finally returned to the big screen in the kidney donation horror drama What Death Leaves Behind (2018). She might not have given us any skinema in a while, but we still appreciate the love spells she’s put us under. Whenever she’s on stage or screen, Alexandra brings all the good Tydings!
